  Remembering Through a Child-Like Memory. Cardboard, paper, crayon, watercolor, tape, construction paper, pencil, sharpie, green tea, pen, ribbon, button, thread, lace, paper flower, printed images, fake plant, fabric. 13 1/2 x 9 1/2 x 3 1/2 in.  Artist Statement This box symbolizes the theme of childhood. As I recall childhood, I include what I know now in my memories. This specifically refers to my mother and what she went through at different points in my childhood. Though through this piece, I wanted to encapsulate how I viewed her as a child. How she made it special for us when felt differently. I focused on the good for this project because as a kid, she kept it hidden. When she saw herself in me, she made sure I knew I was loved. I admire my mother like none other. Paper Cutting Sculpture

  Lost in The Mountain. Paper, watercolor, glue, 13 x 9 x 9 in. Research   Hanging Scroll. Ink and color on paper. Two-Panel Folding Screen. Ink on paper. Hangscroll from a set of 3; ink, color, and gold on paper. Reflection This sculpture alludes to depths of mountains and pays tribute the boarders that can line hanging scrolls. I was heavily inspired from seeing mountains done in ink to create depth. With stacking paper against one another with spacers in between allowed for the concept of depth to be perceived. As light catches the sculpture, shadows cater to the depth as well. In A Long Tale for an Autumn Night, there are figures displayed . In my piece I included a small boat and building, I allowed human life to be there without its presence. As for the bottom of the sculpture. I paid tribute to boards through iconography.  Process

Secret Lives of Color

  Nude. Camera, paper, tape. 6 x 10 in The chapter on nude explores the cultural assumptions of the color opposed to the truth. Through Western fashion, the concept of nude is used to describe a pale, pink-beige skin tone. Products are made to cater to this color and in result is less diversity amongst fashion. I acknowledge the privilege that lies within my skin. With the idea of nude not coming from a point of truth, I decided to photograph my own skin. Opposed to a perfect complexion, my skin holds scars, stretch marks, and what can feel like endless imperfections. My scars are my biggest insecurity. They are reminders of my hardest times embedded into my skin. I have changed and grown to be better but they are still there. I know the moment they are seen by someone else. I sometimes see eyes shift into a slight sorrow. Nude will never be what it’s supposed to be. It cannot accomplish what it should. Let nude be any color, any texture, and any feeling.    Silver. Experimental Sculpture Collection

  Day & Night. Negative Space. Wood, wire, white + black ink, thread, glue. 13 x 10 x 10 in  This sculpture conveys negative space through an emphasis of openness. Through the use of star-like icons, the viewer is able to slip from day to night and utilize the space in between. Night is different from day in light, but similar in the way that they are still in the same place. What we feel from night to day differs. Openness allows us to see things fully and without holding back.  Speckled Blue. Repetition. Wood, paper, blue + white ink, yarn. 13 x 6 x 10 in. This sculpture conveys repetition through the use of repeated thread and circular paper stack on each other. The use of blue is used to create a dream-like sequence that flows throughout the piece. My dreams are often reoccurring, in similar places with the same people. My memory of these dreams is speckled, like the blue on the side. The beauty of my dreams is a presence that is consistent.
